PTI promotes Barrow to president;
pushes development capability beyond PET

Holland, Ohio (February 24, 2009) - Dr. Tom Brady. founder and chairman of Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI), has announced the promotion of Craig S. Barrow to president.

   Barrow joined PTI in 2007 as vice president and chief operating officer, bringing with him more than 30 years of management, marketing and financial leadership experience in several industries, including packaging.

   "During the past year, Craig has been highly effective in helping PTI to realign our assets and to expand our services," said Brady. "We know that Craig's broad experience in both operations and planning will be important to positioning PTI in the fast-changing packaging industry."

   PTI has long been recognized in the plastics packaging industry as the innovator and technology provider for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) stretch-blow molding applications. However, during the past few years, the company's capabilities have expanded significantly into other materials, processes and non-packaging applications.

   "PTI is already well known as the 'think-tank' for companies wishing to develop new PET containers. Our state-of-the art pilot production and testing capabilities, coupled with our technology knowledge enables us to offer package development services which are second-to-none. With that as a foundation, we want the industry to be aware that our material knowledge and processing capabilities extend far beyond PET and traditional rigid container packaging," Barrow says.

   In addition to PET and stretch blow molding, the company is also now working with a wide range of other resins and processes. Applications include both packaging and non-packaging such as specialty plastic products—ranging from toys to medical devices.

   New material options include biopolymers (such as polylactic acid or PLA), as well as traditional resins such as polypropylene, which are increasingly being used in high performance applications. PTI also has expanded its processing capabilities beyond injection and stretch blow molding into sheet extrusion, thermoforming and extrusion blow molding.

   "It makes sense to leverage our broad experience and expertise and to apply that knowledge to materials and processes which will be important in the 21st century. Fundamentally, we want to be able to offer our customers a complete range of technology and engineering services in order to address all of their development requirements," Barrow says.

   Barrow began his career in finance and accounting with Owens-Illinois and has held numerous executive management positions with several companies including NorthCoast Health Systems, Comshare, Oracle, Alliance Consulting and PaperFree Medical Solutions.

   He has been a guest lecturer at Harvard University's Graduate School and holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in finance and business administration from the University of Toledo, as well as having earned a Juris Doctorate with an emphasis in commercial transactions and taxation.

   Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI) is recognized worldwide as the preferred source for preform and package design, package development, rapid prototyping, pre-production prototyping, and material evaluation engineering for the plastic packaging industry.
